St Philip

St Philip's Church is an Anglican Church in the Chaddesden area of Derby. It is part of the Diocese of Derby in the Church of England.

Since 1955 the Church has been at the centre of community life, providing a focal point at key moments throughout the lives of those who live and work in this busy urban environment.

St Philip's way of life.

Many in the secular world think that the Church is increasingly irrelevant, but as you can see, we believe that the Church still has an important role to play in modern life. In an age when many claim to believe in God, but think that organised religion is a waste of time, St Philip's stands as a solid reminder that Christianity remains valid. We are here, both as a building and as a worshipping community, where anyone can draw near to God. We stand as an advocate for the world before God, and as God's representatives on earth.

It would be foolish, however, to believe that we can please everyone in the way we live out our faith. At St. Philip's on a week by week basis, we provide a spiritual home for many who prefer their Christian worship to be firmly Catholic in style, with incense and vestments used at all sung Masses.

Our community ethos, however, is firmly people based and inclusive. People are far more important to us than how they conduct themselves in worship. If you like to practice and live out your faith in a this way, why not come along and join us?
